Robert Cohen, M.D.

Dr. Cohen

Dr. Robert Cohen was the first plastic surgeon to receive a highly-competitive, year-long cosmetic surgery fellowship with Dr. Grant Stevens, developer of the laser bra. Under the guidance of Dr. Stevens in Marina Del Rey, California, Dr. Cohen honed his skills in all areas of plastic surgery, including the laser bra, during 2004/2005.

A Scottsdale, Arizona, native, Dr. Cohen began his medical studies at Emory University in Atlanta after attending the locally-acclaimed Phoenix Country Day School and graduating with honors. He attended Tulane University Medical School in New Orleans, a program known for a hands-on approach to training its students, and received honors in surgery. After graduation, Dr. Cohen was accepted into Dartmouth’s well-regarded plastic and reconstructive surgery program at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. There he completed his medical training with commendations from his faculty, peers and patients.

After electing to pursue an additional year of training under Dr. Stevens to further develop his skills, Dr. Cohen returned to his native Scottsdale to establish the Scottsdale Center for Plastic Surgery. In 2006, he opened the state-of-the-art Paradise Valley Outpatient Surgery Center, designed to offer top-notch technology and comfort to patients from Arizona and beyond.

In addition to his surgical credentials, Dr. Cohen has published numerous research papers in leading medical journals including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Aesthetic Surgery Journal and American Surgeon. Dr. Cohen also authored a chapter titled “Robotics in Plastic Surgery” for a plastic surgery textbook while at Dartmouth. Dr. Cohen has presented his research in a variety of international venues, most recently to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons annual meeting in 2005. Dr. Cohen was named a Diplomate of the ASPS in 2006.

During his education, Dr. Cohen held leadership positions in medical student sections of professional organizations such as the American Medical Association and the Louisiana State Medical Society. While serving as Chief Resident in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in 2004, Dr. Cohen traveled on a medical mission to North Vietnam to repair cleft lips and palates for children of the Ha Nam province.
